About Me

My Story

While I was born and raised in New Jersey, I now consider my home to be Virginia. I grew up in northern NJ and moved to Richmond, VA to attend college at the University of Richmond. After graduating with my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration I spent 5 years at Capital One working in a variety of roles including Business Systems Analyst and IT Project Manager. During volunteer hours reading with children at the Richmond YMCA, I realized my passion was not in business but instead in working with children. After completing a teacher licensure program in the evenings, I became a 1st grade teacher in Henrico County Public Schools in VA.

I was fortunate to teach for 3 years before starting a family of my own.  While I wouldn't trade anything for the opportunity I had to be at home with my three children, I am so grateful I made it back into the classroom to do what I love. In 2020, I decided to get my Masters in Ed. with a Reading Specialist Certification in order to hone my skills in my favorite subject to teach--Reading. I am now working as a Reading Interventionist, and am so grateful to be able to share my passion and excitement for the Science of Reading with my students!

The most important people in my life, my husband Billy, our children Tyler, Bennett and Paige, and our dog Beau.
